Anton Harber

Anton, who holds the Caxton Chair of Journalism and is Adjunct Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, serves on CCIJ’s Board of Directors.

Anton was a co-founder and editor of the anti-apartheid newspaper the Weekly Mail (now the Mail & Guardian), Editor-in-Chief of South Africa’s leading television news channel, eNCA, and chief executive of Kagiso Broadcasting. He is board member of the Global Investigative Journalism Network, chair of Africa Check and former chair of the SA Conference of Editors and the National Association of Broadcasters. Harber most recent book is Southern African Muckraking (Jacana, 2018). He wrote Diepsloot (Jonathan Ball, 2011), The Gorilla in the Room (Mampoer Shorts, 2013) and co edited the first two editions of The A–Z of South African Politics (Penguin, 1994/6).
