Adie Vanessa Offiong

Vanessa is an award-winning journalist in Abuja, Nigeria and a member of the African Investigative Publishing Collective.

As part of the African Investigative Publishing Collective, Ms. Offiong was involved in cross-border reporting on The last resource: Risking death to feed our kids. As an investigative journalist, she is interested in development and solutions journalism which allows her to report on a variety of issues from health, environment, climate change and agriculture with a human angle, multimedia, data-driven and solutions-based approach.

Ms. Offiong is one of three finalists shortlisted for the 2019 Africa Media Development Foundation Journalists of the Year Award. She was the only female finalist of the 2019 Continental Journalism Awards on the African Union Charter.

She is a 2018 Health Systems Global Media Fellow and a 2018/2019 Early Childhood Development Fellow of the International Centre for Journalists/ Children’s Investment Fund Foundation.

Ms. Offiong, an assistant editor at Daily Trust newspaper, is also coordinator of the mentorship program for female journalists under the Women in Media & Development Initiative.
