CCIJ won two awards and an honorable mention at the second annual INNYs, an awards ceremony hosted by the Institute of Nonprofit News to honor excellence in nonprofit journalism.
We are thrilled to announce to that we have been awarded the Institute for Nonprofit News’ inaugural (INN) Journalism Partnership of the Year award for our collaboration with SJV Water for, “The Central California Town That Keeps Sinking.”
CCIJ Member Winston Mwale’s investigation on a maternity ward in Mchinji was recognized at the virtual Highway Africa event, coming in second for the 2021 Southern Africa Media Award in Social Accountability Reporting and winning $200. Last Thursday, our ongoing training series continued with a photography workshop featuring Nengi Nelson and Benedicte Kurzen. And on Sunday, the CCIJ hosted our first ever Midyear Report Fundraising Event to raise money for our community.
On April 29, 2021, CCIJ member Sonja Smith of The Namibian was recognized at the EFN Namibia Journalism Awards Ceremony. She won the Best Agriculture & Environment Category award and was awarded Journalist of the Year.
